INITIATIVES
Empowering New Indigenous Narratives
RE:DEFINE
HEALING TRAUMA IN INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES
“Re:Define – Healing Trauma in Native American Communities” is a national initiative launched in the spring of 2018, by Thrive Unltd. The initiative is aimed at bringing awareness to the effects of historical trauma within Native communities. Through the training series, we take an in depth look at how it’s presence has transformed the dynamics of our families and communities and reflect upon what cultural identity has become versus what it should be. This initiative strives to create coherent and comprehensive conversation between both service/ program providers and community members that empowers and facilitates authentic healing to support family reparation and enhance established community efforts. Our overall objective is to bring restoration to the family system by helping to resolve the traumas that have carried over generations and inhibited the return of healthy relationships and value systems indicative of our traditional culture, in effect, “redefining” cultural identity in contemporary times from a legacy of survival to one thriving.

EVERYTHING BACK
Reclaiming relationships with Indigenous knowledge and lifeways.
Our “Everything Back” initiative was created to emphasize the importance of relationship and connection between Indigenous identity and the living world. As Indigenous philosophy, spirituality,
and value systems are rooted in timeless lessons learned from the land, plants and animals, we feel it vital to remember and rejuvenate these relationships in order for us to thrive as our
ancestors intended. Greater society focuses upon ownership and commodification in regards to land rather than relationship, care and stewardship
with living beings. As Indigenous peoples it has always been our position that we belong to the land and our priority is to know how to work with the land for mutual benefit. Our goal is to create social dialogue and facilitate opportunities for Indigenous communities to reconnect to the land, revitalize their understanding of culture and identity, and empower sovereignty and sustainability for the path ahead.

BROTHER'S KEEPER
“Brother’s Keeper” is a wellness initiative focused on providing a culturally rooted approach to holistic wellness for Indigenous men. In contrast to most western models of wellness, “Brother’s Keeper” is based upon the importance of interconnectivity and integration with the totality of life.
Throughout Indigenous cultures, the importance of relationship is ever present. Whether in the context of immediate family or recognizing our relatives in the plants, animals and even celestial bodies that occupy our reality. Many of our nations carried a cosmological view of life, providing definitive placement within the totality of creation, which provided a powerful foundation for resilience. Present day, these concepts are all but absent as we struggle to maintain stability with shallow roots in a fast paced and demanding world.
This initiative is nonlinear and multifaceted in its approach. Projected as a cyclical 6 part curriculum to be delivered in both virtual and in person environments. As a surface level avenue, Brother’s Keeper Edition of the New Tradition Podcast will allow listeners to engage when and where is convenient for them, creating a noninvasive environment to reflect and process. In accompaniment, more in depth open dialogue and engagement will be facilitated via virtual gatherings of limited size to ensure adequate space for participation for all involved. In-person gatherings will be held regionally as well, to establish and maintain strong relationships between individuals and communities and will feature various guest presenters to compliment the overarching theme of the initiative.
